Life in Reverse

30847_top_gear.jpgOne of my friends still sends me the chain or viral emails. You know the kind where they ask you pass them on to five of your friends after reading. Some deal with politics, some are funny, some are tearjerkers, some are thought provoking, and some are repeats of emails that I got a decade ago. I usually read these emails but I almost never pass them on.

One email in particular caught my interest. Called “Life in Reverse”, the premise of the email was you wake up from death, start your life in retirement, end your career at the bottom, go to college before high school, and before you know it you’re taking naps and eating formula. The premise is particularly amusing because it makes you realize that everyone starts off the same way (we all come out of a womb) but not everyone ends the same way.

When you know how the story ends, the choices you make would be much different.

Based on what’s happened the past couple of years with foreclosures and bad mortgages, I’m sure there are plenty of people who want a second chance to make different choices regarding their mortgage.

Top Five Fridays – Denver Radio Stations

Whenever I get in my car, I usually connect my ipod via an FM transmitter. Rarely do I listen to the radio. With my ipod I can listen to what I want without the ridiculous mortgage commercials. However, when I do listen to a radio, here are my top five stations:

  1. 101.5 Martini on the Rockies: They serve up a decent mix of old (Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin) and new (John Legend, Norah Jones)
  2. 97.3 KBCO: They play mainstream alternative music with a steady dose of U2 and Dave Matthews Band.
  3. 93.3 KTCL: Sort of like KBCO with a heavier edge.
  4. 105.5 Jack FM: It’s a radio station with ADD. 80′s music is always in heavy rotation.
  5. 104.3 Smooth Jazz: When you know who Dave Sanborn, Boney James, and Diana Krall are, it’s official, you’re old!

FAQ: What exactly do you do?

I get this question more than any other: What exactly do you do?

A mortgage broker acts as an intermediary who sources mortgages on behalf of individuals or businesses.

My role as a mortgage professional is to “broker” a home loan for a home purchase, home refinance or a home equity loan/line. I interface with borrowers (clients) and companies that buy mortgages.

Before I got into the mortgage business I worked as a systems analyst. I never thought of it this way but my previous life in the software field and my current life as a mortgage professional are one and the same. This clip from Office Space best sums up my previous life.
