Why do real estate blogs outnumber mortgage blogs?
From my perspective, unless you’re rich you will always need a mortgage to buy a home but it’s not a subject people like to talk about. Real estate is a much more interesting topic. People would rather talk about Denver neighborhoods and school systems. Also, everyone who owns a home has either completed or is in the middle of a home improvement, landscaping, or gardening project. Lastly, when you meet someone, it’s easier to ask where do you live? than what’s your interest rate?.
What I’ve noticed is that the limited number of mortgage professionals that do indeed blog tend to be like me, professional, educated, and very tech savvy. Here’s a list of mortgage blogs that I’ve found to be quite articulate, check them out:
- Denver Lender: Phil Leto (me) mortgage dude from Denver, CO
- Behind the Mortgage: Alex Stenback, mortgage banker from Minneapolis, MN
- The Mortgage Reports Blog: Dan Green, certified mortgage planner from Chicago, IL
- Savage Insights: Dave Savage, Mortgage Coach CEO discusses the value of being a Trusted Advisor.
- Lenderama: Todd Carpenter, started a blog that covers everything related to the mortgage industry.
- LO Tech: Matthew Bowe, also from Denver, CO
- Mortgage Blog: Chris Jones, from Lehi, Utah
- Pacesetter Mortgage Blog: David Porter, from Lansing, Michigan
