Microsoft may be buying Yahoo. They also might be buying the Sun complex in Broomfield. Despite Google’s meteoric rise, Microsoft is/are still the Joneses and Google knows it!

The caucus in Colorado is Tuesday. Isn’t twenty years of Bush (4) + Clinton (8) + Bush (8) enough? For the record, I’m a huge fan of Barry. If you read his bio, you might become one too. He’s half African, half Caucasian. Raised in Hawaii. Lived in Indonesia. Schooled in California and NY. Senator for Illinois. He’s got the whole country and a lot of ethnicities covered plus according to the NY times he’s a MAC.

Rate cuts, rate cuts, and more rate cuts.

I’ll be the first to admit that I really didn’t think the Giants had a shot at winning the Superbowl. I grew up watching both the Jets and the Giants but since my brother liked the Giants, I adopted the Jets as my team just to spite him. Boy do I regret that move big time!

Despite being a Jets fan, it’s hard for me to hate the Patriots. New England line backer Tedy Bruschi is the same ethnic chop suey as I am.

Why do we love sports? My brother said it best, it’s unscripted drama.

My brother is now a Broncos fan.

Suck it Peter King!

I’m still on vacation in Hawaii. In two days I’ll be on a plane headed back to Denver. Here are some casual observations about Hawaii.

    • Are you a local? Kama’aina is the Hawaiian term used for resident. Wherever I go, I get asked if I’m a local. Sadly, I haven’t received any kama’aina discounts.
    • Everyone looks like me. Everyone is “chop suey” or what Hawaiians call people who are of mixed descent.
    • Pearl Harbor is amazing. You’re treated to a 30 minute video detailing the events that occurred on December 7, 1941. Afterwards you’re taken by boat to the memorial that sits atop the USS Arizona. It’s simply amazing knowing that Pearl Harbor hastened the US involvement in WW2.
    • Tan man no more. I was called “tan man” in college. Like Denver Bronco head coach Mike Shanahan, I have a year round tan. However, I never used sun tan lotion until my late 20’s when I first suffered sun burn. Now it seems like when I don’t put sun tan lotion, I get sun burn. Maybe those global warming experts are right after all…
    • Surf or Turf. Given the choice of learning how to surf or playing golf, I opted for playing golf. For the same price as a 2 hour surf lesson, I can play a round of golf which lasts 4 to 5 hours. To me it’s a no brainer.
    • I’m a fast reader. I read “Prey” by Michael Crichton in 2 days while laying on the beach.
    • You’re in America but you’re not. Hawai’i became a state in 1959 but it feels more like a foreign country. Maybe it’s because it’s the only state where whites are the minority. Maybe it’s because beaches are the state parks. Maybe it’s because there are no streets named Main, Elm, or Maple. I just wish Starbucks wasn’t everywhere you go, after all this is Kona coffee country!

When I return to Denver, I’ll probably have more observations on my Hawaii trip so check back soon.
