Earlier I discussed how Mark Cuban’s blog is a great starting point. If you’re in the mortgage business and want to start a blog, the best place to start is lenderama.com a blog started by Todd Carpenter. Todd has been blogging about the mortgage business for a couple of years now. Most of his posts are training materials to help mortgage professionals gain a competitive edge. He even tackles how meet and develop long lasting relationships with real estate agents. Moreover, he posts links to just about any mortgage and real estate blogs in the blogosphere.

I was first exposed to the power of a blog when a friend of mine told me about Mark Cuban’s blog a few years ago. I passed it off as nothing more than Cuban’s ranting on the poor officiating that goes on the NBA.
I dug deeper into his site and noticed Mark had much more to say than the refs. He discussed his philosophy on success, what stocks he’d buy, the Donald, his movies (including the snoozefest “Godsend”) and countless other topics. I was hooked. Every day I checked the blog for new content. Occassionally I’d comment on his posts. I did comment that I hoped his future movies weren’t snoozefests like Godsend. Within hours that comment was gone.
Overall it’s a great blog, and worth bookmarking.

The one thing I do best is get sidetracked. After years of being a software developer I actually found my calling as a mortgage broker/banker. It’s a career that allows me to dabble in other pursuits:
- I blog
- Post to a mortgage forum
- Create other mortgage sites
- Try to improve website rankings through SEO
- Promote my friend’s site

Recently Mark Cuban the owner of the Dallas Mavericks posted “Get Your Blogspot Shit Together Google.” A synopsis of this blog is basically that blogspot has unleashed a wave of spam blogs aptly named splogs. Blogspot is Google’s host for their blogger software. These splogs typically have links to nefarious sites and artificially inflate those sites page rankings.
Today’s Rocky Mountain News reprinted an article by David Kesmodel of the Wall Street Journal called “Spammers’ blog clog searches on Internet.” In his article, Mr. Kesmodel cited the aforementioned blog by Mark Cuban.
Here are my thoughts:
- There will always be spam on the internet. It’s part of the internet culture.
- There will always be spam in Hawaii. It’s part of the Hawaiian culture.
- The tides have turned. Typically blogs summarize events in major publications, now major publications are summarizing blogs.

On August 13th, the annual Georgetown to Idaho Springs half-marathon took place. Consider this:
- it’s practically downhill
- it benefits the Clear Creek School system
- you get great views of G-town, Idaho Springs, and all points in between
- $25 entry fee (super cheap)
- the watermelon afterwards was unbelievable
Runners of all abilities ran the Georgetown to Idaho Springs half-marathon. I was amazed at the turnout. Idaho Springs is about 45 minutes from Denver so there were a lot of people who woke up really early in the morning.
Training for this marathon was interesting. I started in June by doing nothing. By mid June I got my bike fixed so I went on a couple of bike rides. In July I started running again. Nothing crazy just a couple of 3 mile runs on my treadmill. Occasionally I would play pickup basketball after work and on Sunday I’d go for a bike ride. August rolled around and I went on two long runs. The first long run was three times around City Park by the Denver Zoo. It’s about three miles around so I ran 9 miles total. The second long run was four times around Washington Park. It’s about 2.5 miles around so I ran 10 miles total.
My main goal was just to run and complete the race. I’ve been suffering from shin splints all summer long so my running schedule was severely compromised. I really don’t recommend this training schedule especially if you’ve never run a half-marathon before. Proper training will ensure a pain free experience.

I created this blog to cover Denver Real Estate. I live in Denver, I own a home in Denver, I work in Denver, so who better to help you buy a home in Denver. I’m not a realtor but if your realtor is an idiot, I’ll help you find one who actually knows what they’re doing.Live Strong!

Greetings! Thanks for visiting my blog! I was once a software developer starting with BASIC when I was a teenager to FORTRAN and COBOL and ending my career with JAVA. A few years ago I left IT for the brutally competitive world of home loans, financing, and mortgages. The purpose of my blog is to relay relevant loan information such as:
- my unique perspective on life
Check back early and often.
Cheers!
