Top Five Fridays – NY Jets QBs

As we finally hit summer, i’m aching to see football seasoon start and despite living in Denver, I’m a huge NY Jets fan. I’ll watch the Broncos but they’re not the team I rooted for since childhood. I firmly believe you’re born a Jets fan cause there’s no way you actually become one. The Jets haven’t really had a decent quarterback since Broadway Joe. Here are my top five NY Jets QBs:

  1. Vinny Testaverde: #16 is my all time favorite athlete, he’s just a class act.
  2. Boomer Esiason: #7 played for the Jets for a handful of seasons but played with passion.
  3. Ken O’Brien: #7, part of the famed class of 83. Always played great against the Dolphins.
  4. Pat Ryan: #10, backup that always played with a glove
  5. Chad Pennington: #10, led the Jets to 2 playoff wins.

Top Five Fridays – Mexican Beer

Mexican beers are the best served during the summer time. After visiting Mexico numerous times, I noticed that they never served their beer with limes. Here are my top five:

  1. Negro Modelo – I’m partial to dark beers
  2. Bohemia – I recently tried it and was really impressed
  3. Corona – If you’re gonna drink Corona, you better have limes.
  4. Dos Equis – At one point Dos Equis Amber was my favorite.
  5. Modelo Especial – It was a toss up between Pacifico and Modelo Especial.

Top Five Fridays – Rap Groups

I’m instaling TOP FIVE FRIDAYS where I list my top five of just about anything. On the docket for this is week is my top five RAP groups. When I was a kid, rap was just starting out. It’s evolved since then but I still dig old school beats.

  1. Beastie Boys – “Licensed to Ill” and “Paul’s Boutique” are their finest albums.
  2. A Tribe Called Quest – If you don’t have their “Anthology” album, get it!
  3. Public Enemy – “Believe the Hype!”
  4. Boogie Down Productions – KRS-ONE is a self described lyrical assassin.
  5. Outkast – They get more acclaim for their latest stuff but their early stuff is awesome.

The Sopranos

After 22 months, Tony and the gang are back for Season 6! It’s one of my favorite shows on television and I’ve been addicted since season one. Here’s a list of my top five characters:

  1. Tony Soprano – something unexpected happens to this wiseguy at the end of the first episode in Season 6. The centerpiece of the show. I remember him playing whatelse, a wiseguy in the movie True Romance.
  2. Meadow Soprano – she was an annoying teen, then an annoying college student, but hey she’s hot! Also, she sang the national anthem when the Jets played the Colts in the 2003 playoffs.
  3. Chris Moltisanti – he played Spider in Goodfellas and got whacked by Joe Pesci. Adrianna is no longer around to beat up and that means no more dogs are going to get whacked.
  4. Ralphie Cifaretto – played by the one and only Joe Pantoliano. He got whacked at the end of season 4 but he left his mark on the show by being one of the most sadistic villains of the show.
  5. Uncle Junior – he was once crime boss and the patriarch of the family but has been slowly fazed out the last couple of seasons.
